Textile Workshops - Silk Velvet

The Japanese have been practising the craft of Shibori, a stunning form of tie-dyeing, for centuries.

During this workshop you will learn one type of shibori in order to produce a length of colourful silk velvet to make into a scarf.

You will learn how to prepare the silk velvet ready to accept the dyes, what type of dyes can be used on silk velvet and how to mix the dyes to paint onto the silk velvet.

Information will be given regarding finishing processes which will need to be carried out at home.
