When most people think of knitting, they think in terms of knitting a garment, such as a jumper, or a scarf or hat.
In terms of textile art, knitting can be so much more than this, for example, it can be used to create textured backgrounds within a piece of work.
It is possible to knit with more than wool. Anything that can be made into a long strand can be knitted with, including fabric, plastic bags, string, tinsel and wire.
During a knitting workshop we will look at knitting with wire and how, with the addition of beads, you can create an unusual piece of jewellery.
Advice will be given on the type of wire suitable for knitting with, together with the best type of knitting needles to use.
At the end of the day you will go home with a unique knitted wire and beads bracelet.
